iPad Tips for REALTORS and Other Professionals - With iPads being carried with us where ever we go, there are times when we wish we could share images of what we see, discover or create. For what ever reason I purchased an App to accomplish this and have always been frustrated that A slow Internet connection would make it not work. I simply did not think about it being an option for users already integrated into he system since it was not part of the initial tutorial.

Thanks to a simple Google search I was able to find the solution of hitting the sleep and home buttons at the same time and it works great. You iPad will even auto save the screen shot into your photos. For REALTORS this is a great way that they can have a new client sign a contract directly on the iPad then take a screen shot of it and email to them. For iPad 2 users it would be ideal to take those initial photos and then make notes or annotations to the photo of the new listing and save a clear copy that can be sent to support staff.

Another great tip for REALTORS is using the iPad and iCloud network to get listing VIDEOs live to YouTube before the MLS has even processed the new listing paperwork. Use the built-in camera on the iPad 2 or take video with your Flip Cam and simply use the available iPad connectors to upload the video to your iPad and YouTube at the same time. If you combine the Dragon Dictation App that is available in the App Store for $4.99 you can have editable text to use in your marketing efforts.

These are just 2 tips that can make a great difference in the effectiveness of your timemanagement and marketing efforts when it comes to new listings or any other project that you work on. I’ve had an iPad since Christmas and have been going thru growing pains and plugging my way thru figuring out what I like/don’t like and thought I’d share some things I’ve learned along the way.

Recently I upgraded my iPad (version 1 – no 3G) to IOS 5 and found the multi-tasking feature. You grab the screen with all fingers and slide up. Presto – you have a multi-tasking bar where you can switch around to other programs running or close them. Ok, that’s cool.

I was typing an email and accidentally hit the space bar twice and up shows a period and my sentence ended. Not exactly what I wanted, but cool enough to make me go, hm, ok, that’s cool.

Reading books on my iPad has become one of my favorite things to do (other than the Angry Birds game – “hi, I’m Pat, and I play Angry Birds.”). When I hit the screen to move a page sometimes I hit too long and the circle comes up. So that led me to find out what that meant and it’s to copy text. Or go even further and look up the meaning of the word. That sort of takes reading to another whole level. Can you imagine what it would have been like when you read a book in school – you clicked on a word – and a dictionary popped up. Besides jumping clear across the room from fright, you have to admit it would have been pretty cool.

Delving even further, tapping and holding a key on the keyboard brought up other ways the key can be represented. That was cool.

Tapping and holding an icon make it start shaking and wiggling. I finally figured out that it meant I could move things around. What I do is move things down to the bottom so I can then slide over a page and move the item to that page. I’m sure there is a better way, but for now that works for me.

Coming soon to my postal mailbox is an adapter for VGA that I will use with KeyNote. I can take my Powerpoint presentations, and put them into Keynote, then using my new adapter, plus into an overhead projector, and show my presentation. Like how cool is that.

Finally, and this is what really brought this device home to me, I was attending a conference in July. I had the Instant Messenger app, Twitter, Facebook, my Gmail into the email and my Keynote app. A message would pop up when one of my staff sent me an IM. A box would also pop up if a Facebook or Twitter message came in, I could move over and read my emails on the mail app, and then type up notes in the Notes app. I could upload the notes into Dropbox so the rest of my staff could read them later. Using Safari, I went online to Sage ACT Connect to look at my ACT details – I’m liking that more and more. Oh, and I could play Angry Birds if I got bored. With a device that weighed a lot less than my laptop. And used a lot less battery. And was cool.

Ok, I’m hooked. Now, I just need to go find out what other apps I need to download from the Apple store. All this from a died in the wool PC-holic. My friends at Apple must be laughing their hearts out.

Moral of the story…iPad’s can really make a difference in a business person’s life. Don’t discredit them. Tablets are here to stay.

iPad 2 gets 3194 error when updated to 4.32 - I have a computer running Win 7 ultimate. Firmware was downloaded. But my iPad 2 32gb WiFi couldn't update from iOS 4.31 to 4.32. I just got 3194 error when attempting to verify from Apple.

To fix the issue quickly, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\, locat “hosts” file and then rename it.

Facetime Could not sign in - My iPad 2 is runninh iOS 4.3.2. When I try to log into Facetime, I get the error message "Could not sign in – please check your network connection". How can I fix the issue?

Many iPad users have been reporting many Facetime problems on anything earlier than 4.2.3. Just try installing the latest iOS 4.2.3.

iPad mail keeps loading older and older messages - I have got an iPad 2 and set up Gmail. Every time I open mail on my iPad, it keeps loading older and older messages. But I have set iPad Mail to 'delete from server when removed from inbox'.

To prevent getting old mail, login Gmail via a web browser on your computer. Click Settings > Forwarding and POP, and then select "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on." under "POP Download".

If you only use POP account on your iPad, this can prevent the iPad from downloading older mail.

Airplay audio cuts out intermittently with iPad

Airplay audio cuts out intermittently with iPad - Everytime I play anything via airplay with my iPad through the Airport express, it just play fine for 2 minutes and then the audio cuts out for 6-10 seconds. Then the audio comes back again, but it will cut out repeatedly few minutes. The Express units are both connected to Extreme via wireless. After rebooted all devices and updated firmware, nothing works.

The Express to Extreme connection is the issue. It is a lot more reliable if you cable the Express units to the Extreme base station. Doing this always fixes the stuttering audio.

* Power the iPad off.
* Connect the USB cable from computer to iPad. Press and hold the Home button. When you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, release the Home button.
* Open iTunes to update iPad.
